MACH means Modular Architecture for Compute at Hyperscale. We are developing a field-centric architecture that brings facility design, infrastructure interfaces, construction sequence and long-term serviceability into one coordinated delivery approach.
Modular Architecture for Compute at Hyperscale.
Explore MACHA separate initiative for the facilities and supporting infrastructure that enable semiconductor manufacturing.
What is MACH-FAB?Equipment, utilities, building systems and construction must work together before a facility can produce. Disconnected decisions can leave owners with installation conflicts, difficult maintenance and delays between construction completion and usable capacity.
MACH begins with the productive function of the facility, then examines how its supporting infrastructure can become more repeatable, maintainable and practical to deliver.
MACH is a data-center architecture and delivery program built around coordinated interfaces, repeatable execution, defined failure boundaries and service access. Its objective is to make the path from construction to usable compute more predictable across successive deployments.
We evaluate field installation, factory-built assemblies, equipment access, commissioning and future replacement together. Each choice must earn its place through the result it creates for the owner.
MACH-FAB is a separate infrastructure and delivery initiative for semiconductor fabrication facilities. It explores how repeatable building and utility arrangements, coordinated equipment interfaces and disciplined installation can support the delivery and expansion of advanced manufacturing capacity.
A semiconductor fab needs a carefully controlled environment around its production equipment. Cleanliness, vibration, utility quality, safety and access all influence what can be built, maintained and qualified for production. MACH-FAB starts with those manufacturing requirements and examines how the supporting facility can be delivered with less unnecessary construction complexity.
The program addresses the facility and its delivery: the building, supporting utilities, service access, installation sequence and progression toward qualified manufacturing capacity. Semiconductor process technology and production equipment requirements remain with the manufacturing and equipment specialists.
MACH and MACH-FAB share an emphasis on coordinated interfaces, maintainability, contained disruption and repeatable execution. MACH-FAB has its own manufacturing requirements and technical development; its facility arrangements are derived from the process and equipment it must serve.
| Focus | MACH | MACH-FAB |
|---|---|---|
| Facility | Data centers | Semiconductor manufacturing facilities |
| Productive outcome | Usable compute capacity | Qualified manufacturing capacity |
| Design driver | Compute infrastructure and operating requirements | Manufacturing process, production equipment and environmental requirements |
MACH-FAB is under technical and commercial development. Cost, schedule and production benefits remain objectives for validation.
Define the usable compute or qualified manufacturing capacity the facility must deliver, then derive the infrastructure requirements.
Bring equipment connections, building systems, access and installation requirements into a consistent delivery plan.
Examine how faults and maintenance could affect adjacent operations and where boundaries can limit the consequences.
Coordinate construction, testing and commissioning so each phase has a defined route toward operational readiness.
Consider inspection, maintenance, replacement and expansion while the facility is being designed.
Compare capital, schedule, first usable capacity, operating demands and replacement costs on an equivalent basis.
Faults and maintenance should have defined consequences. MACH examines shared dependencies, access and replacement requirements so a local problem can be addressed without avoidable disruption elsewhere.
These are design objectives. Engineering review and project-specific evidence must establish the outcome.
MACH is developing the data-center architecture and its delivery approach. MACH-FAB extends the program family into semiconductor facility infrastructure, with a separate technical scope. The current focus is engineering review, constructability, coordination of interfaces and comparison with credible project alternatives.
Both programs are under development. Comparative performance and economic advantages remain to be independently established.
